I’ve Been Charged With A DWI, What Happens Now?

This question is answered by Thomas Hagen, from Kohlmeyer Hagen, Law Office Chtd.

So you’ve been charged with a DWI and now you want to know what happens next? Well the first, we need to remember that a DWI/DUI case is split into two proceedings, a criminal case and a implied consent case.  A Criminal case should be self-explanatory, but Implied Consent is something people will typically ask about.

Without getting too technical, implied consent is consent that is not expressly granted by a person, but rather inferred, whether it is by a person’s actions, statements, or other facts involved in the case.  This is something to remember for the future.

Have you received your test results? This is just one of the questions your lawyer should ask you as soon as you hire them.

The truth is that there are very few ways in which a DWI case can go, but if you want to get your case dismissed, the best option is for you to call a local attorney, which is the most important thing you can do to help resolve your case.

It’s not a guarantee, but your lawyer will certainly be able to assess the situation further, and hopefully get you what you need to come to a positive resolution.
